10 April 2022 – “Sal’s Shoes are being offloaded to start finding their new feet at Yida refugee camp in South Sudan with Green Kordofan.
Since June 2011, violence in Sudan has created hundreds of thousands of displaced people and refugees from the Nuba Mountains. 46,000 people live in the Yida camp. The total number of children in the camp aged between 5-17 yrs is 23,500. Around 80% of households are female led.
Green Kordofan’s aim is to bring sport to the young people in Yida. Sport can bring a culture of peace and teamwork as well as boosting self-esteem in young people, and improving their physical and mental health. Your trainers are about to start playing sport again.”
