5 February 2022 – Sal’s Shoes on feet and sports tops on torso’s courtesy of Haiti Orphanage Project Espwa with NPH Haiti Special Needs Programs in the commune of Kenscoff, located in the foothills of the Chaîne de la Selle mountain range, in Haiti. The altitude is ~ 1500 metres, making the town the highest permanent settlement in the Caribbean. Haiti is the poorest country in North America. 80% of the population live below the poverty threshold. 6 out of every 100 children die before reaching the age of 5 and life expectancy is 60. 56% of the population suffers from malnutrition and only 1 in every 10,000 inhabitants has access to a doctor.
