March 2023 – From school children here to school children there. Your Sal’s Shoes trainers and canvas shoes are back in education at a primary school in Burkina Faso thanks to Feed The Hungry UK. More than 40% of the country lives below the poverty line. Burkina Faso ranks 184th out of 191 countries in the 2021-2022 Human Development Index (HDI) report of the United Nations Development Programme – UNDP. The index considers the health, education and income in a given country to provide a measure of human development which is comparable between countries and over time.
